Faith’s leadership was tested in unforgettable ways in 2024, when West Florida was hit by two powerful storms only weeks apart. Both Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton reached Category 5 strength, leaving behind flooding, power outages, and widespread destruction. For the communities in their path, these storms created an urgent need for strong, visible leadership inside healthcare facilities that cared for vulnerable populations.
At the time, Faith was serving as Interim Administrator at Concordia Village. While many chose to evacuate or take shelter elsewhere, she made the decision to remain at the facility with her team and the residents who depended on them. For more than 36 consecutive hours, she worked without rest as winds battered the building and floodwaters threatened to overwhelm safety measures. Her presence gave staff a sense of direction, and her calm leadership reassured residents who were frightened by the storm.
Her responsibilities during this time extended far beyond traditional administrative duties. She oversaw emergency protocols, coordinated the use of backup generators to protect residents who required powered medical equipment, distributed supplies like food, water, and medications, and reassigned staff responsibilities when many team members could not make it in due to flooded roads and evacuation orders. Faith became the central point of communication, keeping her team informed with radios and written updates when cell service and internet connections failed.
She also stepped into practical roles to keep the facility running. When there were gaps in environmental services, she helped clean rooms and common areas. When the kitchen was short-staffed, she served meals to residents herself. And when exhausted staff members began to feel overwhelmed, she provided encouragement, emotional support, and a steady reminder that their work mattered deeply to the people in their care.

Looking back on those storms, Faith describes the experience as some of the most challenging days of her career, but also the most rewarding. “We were all exhausted, but the compassion and cooperation I witnessed reminded me why this work matters. Faith summed up her sense of accomplishment in simple but powerful words: “I feel an incredible sense of accomplishment knowing that I was able to keep both residents and staff safe during the storm.”
