Workforce Management recently reported on an Employee Benefit Research Institute survey that found that nearly 25 percent of workers are putting off retirement this year. Surprise, surprise, 29 percent are blaming the economy for changing their plans. Others cited changes in their employment status, inadequate finances, and the need to make up stock market losses as reasons for working a little longer.

While this may be disappointing for those hoping to retire, it’s great news for contract recruiters. Baby Boomers make great contract candidates because full-time, permanent positions usually do not provide the work-life balance they are looking for. Contracting allows them to use their skills in a more flexible situation. And because companies love the expertise and knowledge these older workers bring to the table, placing a Baby Boomer can be a win-win-win for you, the candidate, and the client company!
